Hi Everyone!

Here's a weekly update on how well people have been doing over at LostCousins.

• 35 new members joined the LostCousins site
• 1,840 new entries have been added and
• 70 relatives have been matched.

All numbers down this week, but still, as long as data is getting added then we also stand a greater chance of getting matches. As you can see, a quiet week, possibly not being helped by the changes occurring with Family Tree software and the delayed launch of FTM 2017.

New Members mean New Entries, and New Entries mean New Matches. Have you referred someone to Lost Cousins yet?

It's Easter weekend and more free time for people. Also Ancestry is offering a free weekend so maybe this will inspire people to do some more searches, make some discoveries and have relatives to add to Lost Cousins.

• 672 relatives have been matched.

This is a 2 week update.

All numbers up this week. As you can see, all above average as well, probably helped by the Easter weekend and Peter's incentives. Family Tree software and the delayed launch of FTM 2017 is affecting my ability to use FTA to identify all my ancestors to add. Hopefully that will change soon.

A nice set of numbers for last week which gave us a ratio of New Entries to Relatives Matched of just over 11.

In the latest Newsletter, Peter has offered the incentive of a Royal Autograph, so everybody needs to be adding their relatives to be in with a chance!

A pretty average week, New Members are up which always bodes well for the future. Summer has actually happened this year in the UK, and even better, it's managed it all in the same week!

Br-r-r-r. We are preparing for a full half-Christmas blow-out in front of a roaring fire on Sunday. After which, I shall be in no fit state to even login to LC.
Six months ago, the weather was too hot to do justice to a roast dinner with fine red wine. Let's hope the wait was worthwhile.

 

What warm weather?

 

Indeed. Plus 10 C for Midsummer last week. Around plus 10 C day after day. At least it's not minus 10 C.

 

Sunday was wonderful and well worth the wait. However, the temperature did drop to -4C outside that night and just to rub it in we lost our electricity supply about 4:30 Monday morning. No circuit breakers in our house had tripped so we assumed that it had been a general power cut for the neighbourhood. Fortunately, the heat pump had warmed our floor sufficiently before the loss of power that we were not feeling cold. After breakfast with water heated on the bbq for tea/coffee, my wife went out to the stables and found that power was available there (**), so it was just the house which was without. Very strange.

I checked the main circuit breaker for the house supply (next to the stables) and found that had tripped so reset it and all has been well since then. We have no idea what went wrong at about 4:30 am but will just have to wait and see if anything similar happens again.

(**) Our electricity is routed to the stables first and then back to the house as the house had not been built when the supply was originally installed. (Horses come first!)

 

Ouch!

We're luckily not that cold... although we don't consider anything particularly "hot" until you reach at least 38C. Cold for southern Australia is more like single digits (in the positive for most of us and in the negative if you're in the mountains, Tasmania or Canberra).

Of course, it is all relative!

 

NB Jorghes and Bryman are both in the Southern Hemisphere. I'm not!

 

It is a bit of a different perspective sometimes I've found!
