I see that the Florence Nightingale Museum in Lambeth, London, are running a special exhibition on the Victorian workhouse.

From the Florence Nightingale Museum (www.florence-nightingale.co.uk) in Lambeth, London:

Husband visited museum recently. He says it can be difficult to find as does not have a street frontage but is located within grounds of hospital.... see signpost. He found the main museum more of interest for medical background people. I hope to get there later this year. Nearby is the small parish church of Lambeth which is now closed as a church and houses a modest 'gardeners museum' and has a vegetarian cafe. Forebears of ours were married there in 1836 and out of many London churches associated with one side of family, it seems the only one to survive unscathed from bomb damage of WW2.

Somehow managed to delete my original reply which was:-
If anyone was interested in Workhouses generally then one of the National Trust properties is The Workhouse, Upton Road, Southwell, Notts. I picked up a leaflet from their stand at WDYTYA a couple of weeks ago - it looks really interesting.
