Stage coach timetables for Cheshire in the 1830s

    Although this website relates specifically to Cheshire it helps to underline how long it took to get around the country in the days before railways - for example London to Liverpool was a 26 hour journey with no overnight stop (about the same as London to Australia nowadays):
