Passport records

    I have noticed a number of families that have passport photos from many years ago how would I go about getting this type of file.

    I have a couple or so passport photos in my tree in ancestry, they came from records in ancestry and are of British migrants who took US Citizenship and were wanting to return to Britain on a temporary basis. The card catalogue results for a search for passport produces this:
    U.S. Passport Applications, 1795-1925
