I have been using the new messaging service and have received 3 messages in the past month. These were sent from Ancestry to the email registered to my account. I received an email today advising I have a message from a DNA match but it does not appear in my messages. The notification email was sent to an email address I have which is not registered to my account. I don’t understand how this has happened. I haven’t changed my email address on my Ancestry account. Any ideas would be appreciated.

I apologise for the above post. I had completely forgotten that about 3 years ago I opened an Ancestry account for my husband which has not been used since. Once I found the log in details I saw the message.

At least you now know the email was genuine and not some kind of phishing scam.
