Marriage Record double entries

I am familiar with marriage records of a divorced woman showing details of both her previous married and maiden names. The BMD quarterly summaries normally show both names.

But has anyone come across similar double entries for the husband? Are the two entries aliases he is using?

I don't think I've seen a husband appear under two names, but yes - if that's what you've found, then he will have used another name at some point.

Several of my relatives married using a slightly different name from the one on their birth certificate. Nowadays you are expected to provide proof of identity.
