Foreman at Blue works

    I came across this today on a birth certificate as the occupation of the Father, a quick google comes up with Blue dye for whitening clothes, which is an odd thought but I can remember the little blue bags that you put in with your washing.

    Weren't they called 'dolly blues'?

    They were called dolly blues Helen, probably because they looked like little dollies.

    .. or was it from the "washing dolly" used to wash the clothes?
