This has been driving me mad for a few weeks now, for some reason I am signed out of ancestry and family tree maker will not sign me back in, it goes through the motions but then all I get is a blank page with what looks like a web link at the top which I can not get a screenshot of but is something to do with Mackiev and the circle of doom on my log in page. Am I alone in this ? I have tried turning my vpn off, adding family tree to the list of safe sites, clearing cookies and cache. Is there any thing else I can try?

Hi Carol, this is a known issue atm. You have to turn 2 Factor Authentication off in Ancestry. Then you can log in from FTM to Ancestry.
You can turn 2FA back on after you have logged back in.

Many thanks Tim I will try this, I have been looking everywhere to see if anyone else was experiencing the same problem and not finding anyone.

Thank you so much for the advice Tim, it took two goes but I am finally signed back into Ancestry again, trouble now is my trees are going to take a while to sync because I have been working in them while I could not sign in. Hey ho there is always something :D

Hopefully this is something that will get fixed when they release FTM2024

It works for me with 2 factor authentication turned on. I just have to put the code Ancestry send me into FTM when logging in.

I am so frustrated, if I turn off the two factor authorization I can sign in to my trees on ancestry but can not see any dna information on ancestry on my kindle it tells me I need to turn on two factor authorization. When I turn it back on I can not sign into ancestry from my computer and am back to square one  but I can look at dna information on my kindle. So for now it is turned firmly off and will stay that way until they get it solved.
I hope they get it sorted out soon its amazing how much I miss not being able to sign in to sync my trees.

As I said before, with 2 factor authentication turned on I can log in to Ancestry from FTM on my computer and sync my trees. However, after reading your post about not being able to look at information on your kindle, I just tried accessing the Ancestry app on my iPad (which I hadn't done for a while) and found that when I put in the access code it just went into a never-ending loop and failed to connect. By turning off 2 factor authentication, I can access the Ancestry app (with all the info - tree, hints, DNA, search, etc) instantly. So there is clearly an issue here.

I have also found that with 2 factor authentication turned off, I can still log in to Ancestry on FTM and sync my trees, with the added benefit of not needing an authentication code. And, as mentioned the Ancestry app works fine on my iPad.
So for me, everything works with 2 factor authentication turned off. So that's how it will stay for me.
