A transcript of the Essex part of the journey. In 1722 Daniel Defoe undertook a tour of the Eastern Counties of England. After leaving London, he sailed from Barking to Harwich along the Essex Coast. From there he explored Suffolk and Norfolk, returning to London via Cambridge and North Essex.
