The Bourne School of the village of the same name, was opened on 1 July 1877. This site gives a history for each decade from 1870 up to and including 1990 and features pictures of a few of its former pupils' school reports, etc.

Pupil records, accident books, and punishment books and contagious illness records are restricted for 96 years under the Data Protection Act 1998 (if living) and Freedom of Information Act s40 – personal information. Log books containing sensitive personal data about staff or pupils are restricted for 96 years, or 75 years, if only staff and not pupils, are identified by name.
