See Dec 1914 Dover 2a 2765 and Mar 1915 Dover 2a 1871. Any idea why this would be?

I don't know the answer webwiz, but you do have the numbers 1871 and 2765 the wrong way around , Dec 1914 Dover 2a 2765 and Mar 1915 Dover 2a 1871. Someone has added a postem on FreeBMD drawing attention to these entries, for a marriage between Annie M Colthup and George Whall, but without any further information, I do hope that you solve this.

I would bet it is the marriage of a soldier and connected with the issue of having permission to marry (or not) .............quite common.

But it can only be speculation without checking both certificates.
