    Hi Everyone!

    Here's a weekly update on how well people have been doing over at LostCousins.
    • -33 New Members joined the LostCousins site
    • -12,134 New Entries have been added and,
    • -12,812 Relatives have been matched.
    Bit of a strange week as far as the data goes. A member has asked Peter to remove all their entries so that they can re-enter them. This has caused a bit of havoc with the data!
    And Peter is still cleaning the database so we did have 7 new members join this week. The number of matches has reduced because of the way it is calculated - it isn't a real reduction.

    Always good to see New Members joining. Peter is still closing dormant and duplicate accounts so the numbers don't reflect all the good work that members are doing.
    New Members mean New Entries, and New Entries mean New Matches. Everyone wins.

    • 11 Relatives have been matched.
    This data for 2 weeks.
    Data is still in a state of turmoil and difficult to report on, due to the effects of Peter cleaning and a member starting his entries again. It will take some time for the data and the graph to readjust.

    I should also mention that because of the way it is calculated, there is a fall shown in the number of matched relatives even though the number actually increased over the week.

    It all depends which census you're using - when you enter someone from the England & Wales 1881 the chance of an immediate match is almost 1 in 12, but the odds are not so good for other censuses. This is why I encourage members to track their collateral lines through to 1881.

    During the week there were 67 accounts closed which were no longer used, or had always been duplicates, so there were 12 new members joining.

    What really matters, however, is not the number of members, but how many relatives each of them has entered from the 1881 Census, and that's something that most forum members could help with, either by adding more relatives themselves, or by encouraging others to do so. We can't all be a Superstar or a Megastar like Red Dragon, but there aren't many members of the forum who couldn't achieve Star status by entering more of their ancestors' cousins.

    What I find intriguing I that I know about far more of my ancestors' cousins in 1881 than my ancestors did! I'm sure it's the ame for most of us.

    Please can Peter let Red Dragon know what the figures are each week for members that he has deleted and the associated matches removed so that Red can adjust his figures to be more meaningful? Thanks.
