Executions in Newgate Prison

    Did you have an ancestor who might have been executed at the infamous Newgate Prison in London? This site gives a list of executions there between 1606 and 1895:-

    The executions were mainly for murder, but also include the names of the Gunpowder Plot conspirators and a certain Jack Shepherd and Richard Turpin, Highwaymen. Even if you can't claim one, it makes fascinating if gory reading!
