It is worth noting that BMD registrations for many Lincolnshire villages took place across the border in Newark, Nottinghamshire despite that fact that most of them are closer to Grantham. These include Barkston, Syston, Marston, Claypole, Long Bennington and Foston. they all lie on the south western border of the county. This also applies to census returns for the same areas.
