Victorian BDM "uncertified" certificates

    That's right - but in my original posting I said 'Most entries' not 'All entries' prior to partition. The only omissions are births from 1st January 1920 to 2nd May 1921.

    Civil registration didn't commence in Ireland until 1864, except for non-Roman Catholic marriages, which were registered from 1845.

  3. There is a Forum for Ireland, there are some useful links on Irish research in there. You should look for baptisms but you need to know the Townland where your ancestor was born so you can ascertain which Parish to look at.
