1841 census references folio/book

    This is what Findmypast show today:

    Archive reference HO107
    Piece number 692
    Book number 10
    Folio number 9
    Page number 11

    Originally the 1841 census was transcribed by Origins and licensed to Findmypast. Origins transcribed the book numbers for some counties but not others, and because there was no dedicated field for book number they used the book/folio format.

    Subsequently - following a lot of pressure from me - the transcriptions were updated, but it was only a few years ago that the missing page numbers were added. If members have references from earlier some will be missing the book number altogether.
